Welcome to episode 2 of The Simply Pure Mama Podcast.  In today’s episode we’ll be talking about simple steps you can take on a daily basis to nurture your mind, body and soul so you can live your best mom life.  

Oil pulling   

Has been around for 1000’s of years as an alternative remedy in treating all sorts of diseases and illnesses.  

  • It’s good for oral health
  • Prevents cavities and gingivitis
  • Detoxes the body
  • Helps with acne and other skin issues
  • Can help with inflammation
  • Helps with hormonal imbalances
  • Relieves headaches

 

Meditation  

Mediation is a practice that helps calm and quiet the mind.

It eliminates mind clutter which often dominate our thoughts.

It reduces stress and anxiety and helps you better manage your emotions.

It helps you connect with your inner self, be completely focused in the moment and not think about what’s coming next.

The practice of being mindful, completely present and deep breathing are all practices that will help you live your best mom life.

 

Lemon water with Apple Cider Vinegar

  • Aides in digestion
  • Helps you lose weight
  • Lowers blood sugar
  • Good for gut health
  • Increased energy
  • Less bloating
  • Anti fungal and anti bacterial properties
  • Good for skin

 

Fasting

16/8 Method

You fast for 16 hours a day and you have an eating window of 8 hours.  TI have my first meal around 11 and my last meal around 6. I’ll usually have 2 sometimes 3 meals during my eating window.  This is the easiest way of intermittent fasting.

 

5.  Fitness

Exercising has many health benefits not only for your body but for your mind and your soul.   It can improve your health and decrease your chances of developing diseases. Regular physical activity can improve your quality of life.

  • Help you achieve weight loss goals
  • Makes you feel happier
  • Increases energy
  • Strengthens muscles
  • Can promote better sleep
  • Relieves stress

 

Join a gym, take a class, stream home workout videos, download an app or get a piece of exercise equipment for your home.  Make it a point to move and get your heart rate up for at least 30 minutes a day.

 

Epsom Salt detox bath

Epsom Salt is a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate which are commonly absorbed through the skin.  Epsom salt has been used for hundreds of years for all of its natural health benefits:

  • Relieves muscle pain
  • Relaxes the nervous system
  • Treats colds and illnesses
  • Strengthens immune system
  • Draws out toxins from the body
  • Reduces stress

How to take an Epsom Salt Detox Bath

  • Add 2 cups Epsom Salt to warm water.  
  • 5-10 drops of lavender essential oil.  
  • Sit and soak for 20-30 minutes
  • Repeat twice a week

 

How to add essential oils to your bath.  The first way is to add it to bath salts.  I personally like Epsom salt.  You can add 5 drops per 1 cup or Epsom salt, or the second way is to add it to your favorite carrier oil then add it to your bath.  If you do it this way, you would add 5 drops to 1/2 ounce of carrier oil. Add it to running water to get full benefits and soak for 20-30 minutes.
